Mercado Minerals (CSE:MERC, OTCQB:MRMNF) has come out with new surface sample results from its Zamora Project in Sinaloa, Mexico. The ongoing program is focused on verifying historical high-grade results reported by previous operators at the Campanillas – La Franca Vein and expanding the known zone of mineralization along strike.
Highlights:
Zamora Project
Zamora features 15 known high-grade silver-gold vein occurrences and past small-scale workings that cover 8 km of undrilled strike length.
Historical surface sampling has returned grades of 14,561 g/t silver and 15.53 g/t gold at the Campanillas workings, and 1.00 meter grading 286 g/t silver and 2.54 g/t gold at El Triunfo.

When Mercado Minerals acquired rights to the property, a large portion of the land package — about 3,000 hectares — required bureaucratic and administrative work to bring lapsed claims back into official government good standing.
Mercado’s technical team is on the ground at Zamora prospecting, building camp infrastructure and advancing logistics, mapping and sampling. This work is focused on preparing a portion of the company’s concessions for reinstatement to good standing; and sampling and mapping several of the concessions already in good standing ahead of a future drill program.
Part of the claims reinstatement process is forging good relationships with local communities. On Aug. 26 MERC announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Concordia Silver Company S.A. de C.V., has entered into a community access and exploration agreement with the Ejido Rincon de Ibonia (the Ejido) in Zamora and the surrounding area.
According to Mercado, the agreement, which covers a portion of the Zamora property, allows it to commence the drill permit on the Campanillas area. The company continues to advance its community relations with the other Ejido groups in the region to conclude access agreements for the remainder of the Zamora Project.
On Sept. 18 Mercado announced the signing of a Letter of Intent (LOI) to purchase the La Franca concession surrounded by Mercado’s Campanillas concession on the Zamora Project. Once a Definitive Agreement is signed, it is structured as a three-year option agreement to acquire 100% of La Franca subject to a 2% NSR royalty.
Consolidation of the Campanillas area unlocks 750 meters of mineralized veining that has never been drill-tested. High-grade silver and gold surface chip sampling results from La Franca returned multiple high-grade intervals, including 1.00 meter of 1.53 kg/t silver and 1.39 g/t gold (1,501 g/t AgEq) and 0.80 meter of 534 g/t silver and 3.58 g/t gold (757 g/t AgEq).
“Our continued exploration efforts at Zamora are being rewarded. Our follow-up work at the Campanillas – La Franca Vein continues to extend the strike of that mineralized structure with additional high-grade results while we have been able to take the El Triunfo Vein from a single old working to over 180 meters of strike length so far including a high-grade result of 0.40 meters of 558 g/t silver and 3.52 g/t gold (773 g/t AgEq) and a grab sample from the stockpile outside the workings of 1,075 g/t silver and 1.14 g/t gold (1,078 g/t AgEq),” Mercado’s CEO Daniel Rodriguez said in the Oct. 22 news release.
He added: “Our initial look at the Aguamitas and Periguete veins have also returned encouraging results. All of this confirms our belief that the Zamora Project is highly prospective for silver-gold vein mineralization and is extremely underexplored. We look forward to the first-ever drill testing of these targets in the coming weeks.”
Surface mapping and sampling results
Detailed mapping and sampling along the eastern portions of the Campanillas – La Franca Vein successfully extended the strike length of the vein an additional 50 meters, with a chip sample along the newly mapped segment returning 0.40 meters of 1,615 g/t silver and 1.77 g/t gold (1,605 g/t AgEq) (Figure 1). The vein consists of massive to vuggy quartz with minor carbonate and trace occurrences of fine-grained dark sulfides and/or sulfosalts and pyrite. At the El Triunfo Vein, initial mapping and prospecting extended the vein from a single known historically worked site to having a strike length of 180 meters.
Initial samples from El Triunfo include a 0.40-meter chip sample that returned 558 g/t silver and 3.52 g/t gold (773 g/t AgEq), and a stockpile grab sample that returned 1,075 g/t silver and 1.14 g/t gold (1,078 g/t AgEq). The El Triunfo Vein consists of a grey-banded, colloform-to-crustiform quartz vein hosting disseminated pyrite, fine-grained dark sulfides and/or sulfosalts and likely acanthite, with iron oxide staining along fractures. The vein is north-striking and has a thickness that ranges between 0.40 to 1.50 meters.
Reconnaissance mapping and prospecting on the Gaby concession (Zamora Project) was completed to evaluate the Periguete and Aguamitas veins. Chip sampling returned 1.00 meter grading 20 g/t silver and 1.52 g/t gold (131 g/t AgEq) from the Periguete Vein and 0.50 meter of 120 g/t silver and 3.61 g/t gold (378 g/t AgEq) from a chip sample at the Aguamitas Vein. The Periguete Vein consists of white quartz/carbonate vein breccia to stockwork averaging 1.00 meter in width within an andesitic tuff, dominated by fine-grained disseminated pyrite, while the Aguamitas Vein is a 0.80-meter-wide white quartz vein with fine-grained sulfides dominated by pyrite and iron oxide staining along fractures.
