Hot on the heels of surface sample results released on Oct. 22, Mercado Minerals (CSE:MERC, OTCQB:MRMNF) has announced new sample results from the company’s Zamora Project in Sinaloa, Mexico.
Mercado Minerals announces new surface results from the Zamora Project Including 0.40 meters of 1,615 g/t silver and 1.77 g/t gold at the Campanillas – La Franca Vein and 1,075 g/t silver and 1.14 g/t gold at the El Triunfo Vein – Richard Mills
The ongoing program is focused on expanding known and new areas of mineralization along the Campanillas – La Franca and El Triunfo vein corridors. Continued exploration of the El Triunfo Vein returned 1.55 meters (true width or TW) of 381 g/t silver and 0.85 g/t gold, including 0.60 meters of 815 g/t silver and 1.66 g/t gold.
Continued sampling and mapping has more than doubled the strike length from 180 to over 370 meters, from which a surface chip sample returned 1.55m (TW) of 381 g/t silver and 0.85 g/t gold (413 g/t AgEq), including 0.60m of 815 g/t silver and 1.66 g/t gold (868 g/t AgEq).
Additional chip sampling along the El Triunfo Vein returned 0.60m of 128 g/t silver and 0.26 g/t gold (139 g/t AgEq).
A second historical mine working along the vein has been discovered, where a stockpile grab sample returned 674 g/t silver and 1.00 g/t gold (715 g/t AgEq).
The El Triunfo Vein consists of a grey-banded, colloform to crustiform quartz vein hosting disseminated pyrite, fine-grained dark sulfides and/or sulfosalts and likely acanthite, with iron oxide staining along fractures. The vein is north-striking and has a thickness that ranges between 0.40 to 1.55 meters.
Preparations for an inaugural 1,500-meter drill program at Zamora are ongoing, with drill roads and pads currently being constructed in advance of the drill’s arrival.
“Our systematic exploration efforts at Zamora continue to be rewarded. Mapping and prospecting work at the El Triunfo Vein has more than doubled the total strike length of the vein to 370 metres, including discovering a second historic working,” CEO Daniel Rodgriguez stated in the Oct. 26 news release.
“The highlight result of 0.60 metres of 815 g/t silver and 1.66 g/t gold (868 g/t AgEq) continues to demonstrate the high-grade nature of the veins at Zamora. All of this confirms our belief that the Zamora Project is highly prospective for silver-gold vein mineralization and is extremely underexplored. We look forward to the first ever drill testing of these targets in the coming weeks.”

On Sept. 18 Mercado announced the signing of a Letter of Intent (LOI) to purchase the La Franca concession surrounded by Mercado’s Campanillas concession on the Zamora Project. Once a Definitive Agreement is signed, it is structured as a three-year option agreement to acquire 100% of La Franca subject to a 2% NSR royalty.
Consolidation of the Campanillas area unlocks 750 meters of mineralized veining that has never been drill-tested. High-grade silver and gold surface chip sampling results from La Franca returned multiple high-grade intervals, including 1.00 meter of 1.53 kg/t silver and 1.39 g/t gold (1,501 g/t AgEq) and 0.80 meter of 534 g/t silver and 3.58 g/t gold (757 g/t AgEq).
