According to data from Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), of the US Geological Survey (USGS) and from technical reports by the Associated Press and universities involved in managing invasive species, the proliferation of Burmese pythons (Python bivitatus) In the Everglades, this has become one of the greatest ecological challenges in the United States. Introduced through the illegal exotic pet trade, these snakes have spread through swamps, canals, and areas of dense vegetation, becoming virtually invisible in an environment where visual detection is extremely difficult.
