Archaeologists have unearthed the largest village ever discovered in prehistoric Britain and Ireland, and it’s rewriting Bronze Age history.
In a recent study published in Antiquity, the settlement enclosed by two circular rings held approximately 600 houses within the Baltinglass hillfort cluster, which features 13 hilltops. The epic topography of the land reflects the groundbreaking discovery, as the area boasts monumental archaeological finds from the Early Neolithic and into the Bronze Age, such as the village just uncovered.
